Isn't it funny how all of these stories sound like Russian Roulette, Vanagon style. From the West coast to the East coast it might take 5-7 days at a steady 60 mph. I don't think I'd risk a $3300.00 engine to shave off one day. I blew one engine as a Vanagon dummy, I now take my time and enjoy the trip, no matter how many 18 wheels I backup behind me on hills. To me "the trip is the reward" and grinding my teeth with white knuckles takes the pleasure out of Westy traveling. Not to mention those persistent anal twinges activated by every chip of gravel that hits the wheelwell.

Don't remember the miles but think that's in the 1200 mi. range. Had to replace 3 of the 4 > Continental tires, under warranty, due to blistering. Very lucky dog one didn't blow "at > > speed".
