Greetings,

It has been awhile since I surfed the vanagon list.  Too long!  I was
originally back on the list in 1994.  Stayed on the list for a long time
until 1999 when I didn't have a bus.

Well, I am about to get back into the bus world, and for the first time will
own a Vanagon.  It is an 82 GL.  Repainted bright yellow, with a white roof.
The motor was rebuilt in Jan '01 to the tune of $2900!!!!  It has not seen
many miles on it at all since then, I'd say less than 1000 miles since then.
The owner who had it rebuilt had plenty of money, but no knowledge about cars
at all.  He thought it was overheating after the rebuild, so he only drove it
2x to the beach and then just parked it.  It wasn't overheated, it was your
typical aircooled engine smell, plus the fact the exhaust is right there at
the rear bumper....

Anyway it is great to be back on the list.  I have needed a project like this
for awhile.
As i said this will be my first Vanagon, I have previously owned a 70 camper
hardtop, a 74 bus, a 77 deluxe camper, and a 79 bus.  This will also be my
first automatic.
I love it.  Slow of course but shifts like butter.  So I will be able to
drive and drink coffee and not have to worry about shifting.  YEAH!

Off topic but thought I'd throw it in-I'm giving up my trusty Audi for this
Vanagon.
It is an 82 coupe in great shape.  If anyone is interested in it let me know,
$800 and its yours.
