A few years back, I replaced the front mount on my '88 Westy by having a local VW shop press in a new mount (metal ring with rubber) inside the old Vanagon metal housing, after removing the worn out rubber. Seemed like a good cheap fix at the time (about 1/4 the cost of the new mount), but it has not lasted all that well, and will need fixing again soon. I may try to find a stronger version of the rabbit mount, as I have a hard time swallowing the price for the Vanagon mount...
