The difference I pointed out was the work involved in removing and replacing
the CV joint on the axle, as opposed to just slapping in a new axle assembly.

If you buy an axle assembly (half-shaft), then the difference is just cost.

I believe I was referring to buying the CV's, and not an axle assembly.  I
didn't know that new half-shafts were available.  My bad.
