The speedo cable goes through the dust cap on the driver side wheel bearing. It is a square drive end that requires a clip to hold it. If you pulled it too hard you pulled it out of the drive in the black box to the right of your spare tire holder. Careful there is a tiny nylon washer on the cable where it goes in the black box. Push the nylon washer back enough that the squared spedo cable will engage the drive in the black box. Worst case scenario, I've got a cable and speedo head with the threaded connector.
