Steven,

You mention that you aren't sure if it is possible to flood a fuel
injected engine.  Not too long ago I had a mechanic do some work for me,
when he walked around to the driver's side to get in and start I
casually mentioned to him that Vanagons don't like the gas peddle to be
pumped.  I guess he either didn't hear me or didn't want to hear me, but
after he stomped down on the gas peddle a few times and tried to start
the car it refused to start.  When he went around to the back and
smelled gas he said, "Gee, I smell gas.  It must be flooded."

Having never gotten into the fuel tank itself I'm wondering if it is
possible that sludge in the bottom of the tank may have repositioned
itself to cause the problem.  Hopefully, someone with knowledge of the
fuel tank and how things are positioned might be able to shed some light
on if it is even possible.
