For serious 4WDing you need: a) steep tall hills b) mudholes c) mudholes on steep tall hilsides

Shame there are no Syncro vans here; you should see the 4WD courses they use! If a vehicle rolled it wouldn't stop for at least 20 rollovers, and would be moving FAST at the bottom. I haven't been to one of these since the Japanese 4WD vans became popular, but doubt they take part, unfortunately. Maybe I OUGHT to swaop my diesel Corolla Sprinter Liftback for that 1989 Mazda Bongo 4WD diesel van fitted with Isuzu 2.2 diesel I was offered recently...

Mud? They have long (30m+) mudholes; the mud is gloopy and up to the LandCruisers' hoods (if there are no doors the mud flows in); Suzuki Jimnys float through it!

Vehicles seen? Baja Bugs, LandCruisers (old 70s SWB, all roofless) and Jimnys. Nobody bothers taking Jeeps in... who wants to have to be towed back out? LandRovers? Who wants to have to be towed back home?

If I get that van, mebbe I'll put an old spare Split VW symbol on its nose and take images at a meet... wonder when/where the next one is?
