One 8-pin connector is for speakers, the 10-pin is for lighting, power and ground and the last 8-pin is for a CD-changer cable.

If you have a Vanagon manual with a wiring diagram for the radio ('86 or newer), the pinouts for the connectors will be the same.

If you are planning on using this unit in a Vanagon ('86 or newer), you will need to add another power wire to the 10-pin connector. I posted a message to the list earlier about doing this. <http://gerry.vanagon.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A2=ind0011C&L=vanagon&P=R24482>
