Maybe 5 years ago we put a stock AVP longblock into our '81 Westy. After putting about 600 miles on the rebuild we decided to take it out for a road trip. We left Willcox, AZ at about 2 in the afternoon. By alternating who slept and who drove we drove right through the first night and the second day, stopping about midnight (of the second night) in a rest area in the Florida panhandle for a few hours. We got up shortly after dawn and continued to the Tampa area where we stayed with relatives for a couple of days. Then we went on to Key West. Going home we had a third driver and drove straight through from Key West to Arizona. The engine is still running just fine.

Bill in the Southwest.
