I did a temp fix on the top seal on my '85 that actually worked very well until I ordered a replacement seal several years later. I use a large screw driver to scrape out the remains of the steel clips (they were almost totally rusted away) and then used large amounts of clear RTV to re-attach and seal the top. I used the clear RTV rather than black because any that oozed out and I didn't clean up completely would not show as much. (I had tried fixing a small section with black weather strip cement before and had a mess) Only trick: allow the RTV to start setting up (become tacky) before re-attaching. |
