Well, not exactly liquid... In searching for a new nosecone mount on my '88 Westy, I went through the same process I did about 4 years ago - called Bowwow, dealer, etc, and found the mount is worth $195+ CDN. Last time it was suggested by Ole's VW in Duncan that I try a Rabbit engine mount which conveniently can be pressed into the metal cage of the original mount after removing the rubber. These mounts are very cheap ($18) so I could buy ten of them and replace them once a year. Apparently urethane Rabbit mounts are not attainable, and probably would be too harsh anyway, but urethane "inserts" are available for $8 which fill the gaps in the rubber mounts to stiffen them up, and perhaps increase lifespan. Or another thought was to find some kind of liquid urethane which could be used to rebuild the stock mounts in a mold. Which brought me to this: www.sikasolutions.com/Technical/pdf/sf252.ipdtrans.pdf This is a marine grade Polyurethane sealant with high strength and elasticity. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff, or anything that might be suitable for rebuilding engine mounts?
