heh heh heh...young-uns. The movie was a glitzy tale but based on the real thing...sea to shining sea. A race across America. the silver state 1000, the ironbutt, the three flags, the four corners and others are based on the pukka original. My classmate Tom, ran a 3.08 geared 1967 Stingray in one of the earlier races. Never touched, he finished in the pack so to speak. There was the moto event that went from Austin TX to a phone booth in Sandyeggo. First rider to call won. Any route any moto. Pimps and woosies run this degraded doodah mentioned in the Granola Chronicle. Real men won the coveted goodies in such exotic vehicles as a GMC Motorhome long ago and way before good radar. p |
