This might help. #1) Change your engine oil. #2) Crank the AFM down as far into lean as it will go and still let your engine run at 900/1000 rpms. #3) Set your timing exactly on the mark. If you got points, set the dwell (new points are best). #4) Check your spark plug wires to be sure they are screwed into the porcelain ends properly. #5) Clean your spark plugs or replace them. #6) Check your distributor cap, clean the contactors if required. #7) Check and clean the injector electrical connections, test the injectors if you can. #8) Get your van out on the highway and run it hard getting the engine and oil temperature up good and hot. #9) Drive straight to the inspection station, If they want you to wait an hour just go to another one where you can get quick service on your hot engine. #10) Be sure that you don't have any engine or fuel additives in your van.
