A "Test Only" station in California is just that... Test Only. They have the same equipment as any other smog station in your area but they are not allowed to make any repairs or adjustments to the vehicle being tested. Older vehicles and those with a known history of being gross polluters are often sent to test only stations. This reduces the chances of a "shady" smog station coaxing the vehicle through the test. Believe me, there are many ways you help an engine to pass the smog test. Anyways, that's all it is, nothing to be worried about. Cheers, Jeff

I believe it's the one with the dynometer - also, no repairs are allowed at the facility. I've never done this before, and it sounds like a nightmare, so that's why I'm asking if anyone has had their vehicle tested at one of these stations. -----Original Message----- From: Richard Brassaw [mailto:sendmeanemail@earthlink.net] Sent: Monday, April 14, 2003 9:15 PM To: Stewart, Donna; vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: RE: Smog Check Test Only (California)
I smoged my '85 Vanagon GL a couple of months ago. What is a "test only"?
