This posting has me confused. I buy used speedometers at wrecking yards for $5.00 / $10.00 each and off E bay for less than $25.00 with postage. Between the odometer failing, the drive gear backing off and just general inaccuracies I've found that just continuous replacement has been less $ than having one speedometer repaired. If any one thing on a Vanagon screams junk it has to be the speedometer.
