<< While awaiting parts to get my van running I am wondering what great improvisations (aka 'farkle') members of the group have made to keep cool in a vanagon, since my a/c still needs repairs I am particularly interested in any sort of 'windconditioning'. It is 88F now and the summer in New Orleans has not started. >> This is where you wish that you had an air cooled bus, because the heat coming off that radiator in front of your feet is very hard to overcome. I'd recommend a 12 volt clip on fan down at floor level (I clamp ours to the seat belt anchor) to help move the hot air out of the foot wells. One hot day in June our AC failed and the thermometer that I have mounted on the cab roof near the rear view mirror read a high of 108°! We damn near killed the cat on that trip- actually not a trip- 'cos after an emergency trip to a veterinarian, we gave up and drove home after dark. George/ATL '89 WesTiico, Wernher |
