The 86 syncro has had an offer made on it from an already syncro owner in NC. It looks like to go the way of the parts route. I thank the group for their response and interest. I wish it would have stayed on the road a little longer.  I have 1 vanagon left for sale from the thinning of the herd a 83 air cooled 7 passenger with gasoline heater. Let me know if anyone wants pictures. I'm looking for $1,500.00 OBO
