Mine did not break the first time I reset it while moving, but when it did break, it broke when I reset it while moving. Perhaps it was just a coincidence. On the other hand, knowing and believing that resetting it while moving is a bad idea is essential if you want to consider yourself a "real" Vanagonite. It is this sort of knowledge, correct or not, that separates us from the Toyota drivers. Anyone can drive a boring car like a Toyota. Even on this list, certain drivers (mostly from NZ) tout the superiority of boring cars like Toyotas. I prefer to think my Vanagon has these quirks and that only those of us "in the know" are privy to this information. I say it isn't a myth, it's part of the mystique.
