Or does it spin too fast to get a good reading (doesn't seem like that would be the case...)?

Yep ... it appears you missed the nature of the question.

The kit is "For Automatics". It comes with the magnets and sensor for installation on the CV joints. No problem there. I could go ahead and install it in my 4 speed like it was an automatic .... BUT .... there would be no way to protect against an over rev situation (pushing in clutch or knocking out of gear). With the automatic kit, there is no provision for connecting to the coil for an over rev signal, nor is there a clutch switch included.

They apparently offered a separate kit for installation with a manual trans that did not include the magnets. It hooked up only to the coil and got it's speed signal and provided over rev protection from that connection. Again, no clutch switch.

My question was .... seeing on the illustration that the magnetic sensor wires (for auto) or the coil hookup wires (for manual) went to the exact same connection that was shown on the electronics module, could I just cut off the magnetic sensor and hookup to the coil instead (as per the illustration). Well, the answer is NO. The company provided DIFFERENT electronics modules for each kit.

Mike
