Well, My comment was partially in gest...I 'm beginning to wonder if that is ok on this site. But, if you're serious about your question then I'll say there pretty even as far as difficulty or amount of work wise...I just find it a royal pain to wire in for a neutral safety switch and lights for the indicator as opposed to the ridding of it by connecting a couple of wires. So, again if you have all the parts either way that takes the sting out of it, but if you don't and you were going to buy essentials new... by far way more expensive to change to auto if you don't have all the stuff and it's going to take you a considerable amount of time longer to get the auto all in there and happy. List of parts if you're interested: Pedal cluster, shifter and complete box w/neutral safety set up, different accl. pedal linkage, accl.cable,diff. throttle body or swap over linkage, shift rod+bracket and spacers at the mount for the tranny, linkage to throttle body for kick down set up,oh ya a tranny, and torque con. longer studs for bell housing, or shorter I can't rem.,two diff. axle shafts, one is longer, flex plate, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong but a different Ecu 022 to 022D for an auto it does matter and will not start, a starter and a block off for the fluid resevoir. Hopefully I didn't miss anything. I'd rather strip a std to convert an auto over as well...it would definitely be quicker than stripping an auto to change a std. to auto. Hope I got all your questions, if I missed any let me know or I give parts to swap a to a std.
