Hi Folks,

I was travelling home the other day in 5th gear and noticed a slight change in
sound. Checked the usual things, temp, etc, no problems.

I parked the van in the garage for the next couple of days and forgot about the
noise.

I started the van up over Easter weekend and it sounded like the good’ol Lifter
problem, so around 1km of travel it’s usually gone, however this time the clicking
noise was still there, however after listening a little more clearly it didn’t sound
like the usual lifter noise.

After my “earful analysis” I decided I’d take the Van home and speak to my local
VW Guru. It’s then I put my foot on the clutch and the clicking noise disappeared.

Took my foot off and it reappeared. So, I’m thinking maybe a spring or finger has
gone on the clutch or the thrust face bearing has seen better days. The clutch has
around 240,000km (150,000 miles).

Another thing I’ve noticed is the recently (a couple time only), when I’ve dropped
back to 1st gear (Low on a 5 speed box) it’s gone in a little roughly.
