Check Ken Wilford's web page for the procedure "How-to Replace the ignition switch on a Vanagon" http://www.vanagain.com/disc2_frm.htm Also check the archives for complementary information. I just replaced mine. When you do the re-install of the blinker arm make sure the catch for the high beam is in the correct place. I took the plastic spacer off as well but thinking about it now I do not think I had to.
