Yeah, I hate to say it, but if you absolutely have to get from coast to coast on only $1500 worth of car, you're better off buying an older American van or full-size sedan. They tolerate a lot of abuse and parts are cheap if something does break. Plus the guy at the service station in Nowhere, South Dakota will be able to fix it.
