JEEZUZ! Timing "by ear" is a joke. Borrow someone's light man! Timing is
not a guessing game! When you time "by ear" you may be masking other
things, like vacuum leaks, etc............When you use a light and it is
running crappy, then you can pin point..................
I have had a few customers time their cars"by ear"...EVERY one of them was
off by 5 to 15 degrees..basically too much advance under load and at high
rpms....................this leads to burned pistons, etc.
