Hi-
If you experience severe vibrations or buzzing from the engine, the cheapo
alternator/AC comp bracket is suspect.
Change it over to the Jetta-Golf or Vanagon Diesel Brackets.
This set-up also involves using the Golf-Jetta PS pump, AC compressor, and
alternator. The stock Vanagon ones won't fit the G-J-D brackets.
You can also change the crankshaft pulley to a harmonic balancer type, a
two-piece part with bonded rubber center.
Check your hoses and replace any that aren't genuine VW.
The dynamic oil pressure alarm is buzzing?: You may have the wrong pressure
switches.
Of course I am not as experienced as some having done only four conversions,
all from scratch, and all G-J engines.
But enough to have an exploded view permanently etched in my mind.
The above parts I mentioned are superior to the SA parts and easier to
change than welding up or modifying the cheap bracket from SA that is
clearly not a genuine VW part.
I know one Tiico owner who recently changed over to the G-J brackets and the
vibration problem was eliminated.
I also had another Tiico owner stranded in my driveway for two days ,with
oil in the system from a failed oil cooler. The oil also rotted and burst a
non-VW hose on the back of the head.
The hose looked homeade, as if made from local rubber trees. It had numbers
stamped on it, as if from a branding iron.

Hi Bill
We're putting a Tiico in our 87 Westy next week. The corrosion on the
engine is so bad, that between it, the knocking up the mountain passes
<BANG BANG>, and the oil buzzer <BZZZZ!> ....we'd had enough!
We've heard of a lot of fuel rail issues, since the jetta engine wasn't
designed for vanagon injectors, and decided to go with a complete new
Jetta fuel rail with jetta injectors and a new pressure regulator from
VanAgain. http://vanagain.com/
We've printed off all the tiico instructions, as well as photos... and
feel like we're just about ready. We ordered the OBDTool for initial
setup, now we just need to find a timing light with a dial advance on
it. The carport is cleaned, the tiico should be delivered on Tuesday.
We'll start tear out tomarrow. It's so exciting!
Any words of wisdom or some "watch out for...." that you can or other
list members can think of?
Thanks!
