Subject: Any hazard in driving a syncro w/ driveshaft removed?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I am experiencing a rumble between 40-55 mph which seems to be the driveshaft out of balance. (I just bought the van). This seems a bit strange since the driveshaft looks fresh, recently painted and seems to have been balanced. I want to pull it out, then drive it to see if the rumble goes away. I don't believe there would be any problem driving such a short distance without it, but........ I live in snow country. I don't really need the syncro working 6-7 months out of the year. I am thinking about removing the drive shaft each summer and reinstalling in the winter to extend the life of the VC and syncro bits. Any idea if this idea is completely proposterous? Is it not worth the effort? Thanks in advance, Brian
