Kevin:

If the transmission, clutch and engine are in the vehicle, i.e., you're ready to drive away, then 1 inch of pedal travel isn't enough. Something's wrong and, offhand, I can't think what it is.

However, if only the transmission's in the vehicle and you're trying this, then I'd say that's about normal since after you push the pedal down the first time you're now standing on a column of hydraulic fluid with no clutch fingers to push the fluid back into the reservoir. In fact, maybe an inch of travel is *too* much and you might want to bleed again. --------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Young '81 Vanagon Lafayette, CA 94549 '82 Westfalia --------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Carrubba" <CTTAPER@AOL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Saturday, April 26, 2003 6:47 AM Subject: Oh no more clutch slave and master questions,

Hi Everyone, Well bleed my clutch again this is the 2nd time after the tranny swap and now the pedal feels firm like it should but theres only about an inch of action on the pedal and it just does not seem right. Is this an indication of the clutch master and or slave going? Thanks Kevin 81 Vanagon
