Hi Sidney,

The VW 1115 is just another German over-engineered testing device. A Hall effect sensor can be checked with a simple, inexpensive logic probe available from Radio Shack & electronics catalogs. The Hall sensor generates a low-high switching signal which parallels engine rotation. The Digifant Control Module (DCM) uses this signal to set up the ignition/injection timing. If the Hall sensor is functioning correctly, a logic probe will "blink" and a voltmeter will flucuate between <1V & ~10VDC during engine cranking RPM. Make absolutely sure that the correct Hall sensor Signal circuit is being tested - use the Bentley repair manual schematic!

Regards, John
