You betcha...... We converted an 87 GL to a westy, including the propane tank system a couple of years ago, and it's a pretty easy job!

Just requires some holes drilled in the floor. 2 of the holes lined up with existing studs in the frame even! We used electricians duct puddy to fill the holes after the pipes are ran through the floor.

Be sure to have your tank checked out by a reputable propane place before installing. Safety first! One thing though, everytime we pull into a gas station to get the propane filled, everyone bitches cuz it's under the bus. You may just find the portable is easier, and better accepted!
