Subject: Ghost lights

Hi Volks: I'm getting an interesting effect. After starting the bus and kicking the gas to turn off the alternator and oxs light, I get a ghostly glow from both of them. It has to be dark to see them. I (and my mechanic) have tested the voltage at the battery on a few occasions and I'm getting plenty of power, even with all the fans, lights, and blinkers on. I drove around with the oxs light on for a few thousand miles before my memory, the clothes I was wearing, and the weather coincided and I climbed underneath to trip the button on the speedo cable box. The ghostly alt light was on for awhile before I turned off the oxs light, but did not precede the oxs light being on (the oxs light on bright first, then the ghostly alt light, now both oxs and alt light ghostly, except at startup). No apparent effect on the operation of the bus, just a little unnerving (no vanagon owner needs another thing to worry about). Anyone out there experience this or can give me any insight?
