One additional note on this subject. On every Westy, Vanagon, Splittie I've ever bought I took before pictures. That means before clean up, before all restoration work. In every situation the buyers took the before pictures with them when the transferred the titles and declared them at a lower value than they actually paid for the vehicle. If evaluations are coming from State, County, DOT records I think you can consider them incorrect.
