You will definately want to replace the Oxygen Sensor when you get your new Cat.

My Cat was put in by a respectable shop in the USA, in preparation for the long trip over the Atlantic. Here in Austria, I drove it no more than 3 or 4 months, and it was fried.

I was told by the friendly guys at the inspection station, that the Vanagon would not pass emissions, and that I could not keep it in Europe. Fun stuff.

Porsche Austria (who happens to be the most expensive "shop" here, and deals exclusively with Porsche, Volkswagen and Audi) told me that the reason for my quick frying Cat was that the Oxy Sensor (Lamda) was not functioning. If I had only paid 300 clams.. I would have been the happiest Fish in Salzburg. The whole job cost me well over 600-700 bucks here.

That was over 6 years ago, and I am still running that Cat, and that Sensor, and pass emissions every year!

Good Luck!

RSF

PS. If you need any more information on "Fried Cats", like how to serve them at a dinner party, just ask Stan.

IMPORTANT!!! In order to reply to me, you must have the word "FISH" somewhere in the subject line of the email. Otherwise it goes directly in the trash.
