I'm thinking about installing 27x8.5 14-inch LT tires on my 90 Westy with factory alloys. Most of us know about the BFG A/T KO's and the Dunlop Rover RV's in that size. Kelly-Springfield, according to their website, makes a "Safari SJR" in that size, though it has an all-season tread and not the all-terrain tread of the Dunlops and BFG's. They have a 95 load index like the BFG's and the Dunlops. http://www.kellytires.com/auto/products/ssjr2.html I called a local tire shop, and they advised against buying the Safari SJR's and suggested Michelin LTX's as an alternative. The quoted price on the LTX's was 30% higher than that of the Safari SRJ's, and the LTX's came only in a 195/75R 14, IIRC. Not sure if the tire shop really thought the LTX was a better tire for me or a better profit for him. The Kelly SJR's seem like they'd be worth considering if all-terrain isn't your style. Anyone familiar with them? - Kevin
