Noel, I installed a secondard solenoid to compensate for my low voltage at the starter solenoid. It did work for about 1.5 years. Then I started having the same symptoms again. The van wouldn't start when it was hot and the electrical was heat soaked. So I went and replaced the wire from the ignition to the original starter solenoid. It worked like a charm. I have no starting hesitation and I removed the secondary solenoid. I recommend using about a 10 AWG wire for the wire to the starter. It's big but you won't ever have a problem with it as long as your contacts stay clean. Good Luck, Blake Heinlein '84 Automatic Westfalia (2.1L) |
