The fuel rail I got from Ken WIlfy (www.vanagain.com) is so designed that were you to remove the A2 fuel pressure regulator you'd be pouring gasoline all over the place.

Yes, you remove and throw away the Vanagon's original FPR and only use the A2's FPR, which is essentially and intergral part of the A2 fuel rail.
