Subject: Different Speedo - circuit board?

Hi All, I am in the process of switching my speedo from the instrument cluster that I had with a clock in it to one that I bought that has a tach in it. I need to swap the speedo as I have a syncro and the cluster I bought is from a 2wd so the speedos are not interchangable.

I noticed that the mt speedo has a circuit board and the appropriate plug in the foil cable while the speedo that I am replacing does not have the board hance the foil does not have the plug. What does the board do?

I went ahead and plugged everything in and most things work just fine. The tach came to life without needing any wiring - YEA! It does popup on start and then appears to behave fine. The guages work fine except that the blinking LED does not stop blinking. The other thing I've noticed is no OXY light and the high beam indicator does not work. Can all of this be related to the board? Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks! Hans
