It could also be the starter bushing. Check the voltage to the solenoid coil at the solenoid. If 10 volt or better, the wiring is not a problem. A rrelay can be added to avoid having to run new wiring if needed.

So let me get this straight. I have the delay....sometimes not starter kick-in on my 87 Westy. Are you guys saying it is not a starter issue, but rather a current problem to the solenoid? Before I replace the starter, I should run a new wire from the ignition to the solenoid? Thanks Finn Runyon 87 Westy
