Hey, don't let us get to you. Some of us just need to vent and have some fun. Everyone wants to improve their vehicles and the Vanagon leaves lot's of room for improvement. So we try anything at least once. Lot's of companies make and sells products that are of limited value and sell them to us, some more so than others. Many people believe and convince themselves of the value after they pay their money whether or not it works. Look at some of the stuff touted on this list. We have K+N air filters that supposedly increase power. I've never seen a difference but they do a good job of allowing more dirt into the engine to help increase wear. Aussie power chips that increase airflow? And lets' not forget magical oil additives that eliminate engine wear allow you to drive through the desert with the oil plug removed. I still wonder how they keep the lifters from clacking when they do those demos. Anyway, don't take all the comments as personal attacks. You asked a question and some of us had fun delivering the answer.

Dennis

Alright guys. Get off my case. I'm not an idiot.

A friend of mine's mechanic has had this thing on his car for 6 months and has no carbon deposits in his tail pipe and I believe he said his gas mileage improved by about 20%. He is putting one on my friend's truck ($25) to try it out. I thought I could safely post to this list to do some more research on the item, and I got lambasted with e-mails basically telling me that I'm a naive idiot who just fell off the turnip truck.

In my opinion it's worth looking into something that has the potential to make my vehicle polute less and extend the life of the components of my exaust system as well as improve gas mileage.
