i am no mech, but i had the same problem in my 85 westy.......drove me nuts, and could not find a dam mech that knew what the hell he was doing to fix the problem.....i finally installed a used computer gizmo, (or is that the ecu) thats on the left side of the engine compartment, and that solved the problem........picked one up at a junk yard for $100........they wanted something like $400 for a new one.......james 89 westy (farf)
