Subject:      Is your "Emission Control System (ECS) malfunction Indicator
              working correctly?

The wiring diagram for my 88 shows that there should be one in place but
there is not. Does anyone have one in place?

Can the ECU give out fault codes that can be read with a device?  The
function of this device seems to indicate that it can.  Or does it just
detect a problem and turn the light on.

What is the function of the device for the Vanagon?
