Just a small consequence of the vast industrial and scientific effort that has been put into making aluminum drink cans containing no aluminum -- they're not there yet but already they've got it so that 3/4 of the material is in the cap, and they keep shrinking the cap. Took some serious metallurgy to get an alloy that could be drawn so deeply without imperfections -- one of the requirements is that the empty can has to withstand 250-300 pounds of force during the capping process. They have to be just about perfect to do that.
