Subject: Re: Oil Drain Plug, 1.9 vs. 2.1 ??

When I finally changed the oil on my van myself, Got that sick feeling when I torqued the plug. I would love one of these Fram drain plugs; but they never seem to list any for the vanagon. Maybe you found one.

However, when I talked to a vw service mechanic while working, he pointed out the factory drain plug is designed to be low profile...said he wouldn't put one of the new drain valves on because it could bottom out on a bump --then you've really got problems.
