Depends on milage, time of year, where you live, the mood of the U-Haul counter guy... They charge you by the mile. In my case, last time I did this, it actually made more sense to drive down with someone and rent the truck near where the van was, because the extra fee for a one-way trip was less expensive than the extra milage fee of driving a "local" rental on the round trip. The counter guy where I went to arrange this was really helpful in figuring out the cheapest way to do it. They can reserve a truck for you at another U-Haul branch, and are often quite willing to help you track one down because it means they'll get a one-way truck to rent out when you're done.

Oh, and you only pay milage on the truck, the trailer is a flat rate per day.
