Subject: Re: Propane upgrade

Jim is correct about NFPA. According to a NFPA 58 fact sheet at http://www.nfpa.org/PDF/OPDFactSheet.pdf , "...The 2001 edition of NFPA added an exemption for horizontal cylinders manufactured before October 1, 1998 do not need an OPD, and can be continued in use..."

I am looking for an Auto Stop fill valve repair or replacement and recently recieved the following answer to my query from Diane Hickey at Manchester Tank: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ..It is acutally against the NFPA 58 to replace an old Auto Stop valve with the new 80% stop fills.

If your Auto Stop is leaking around the weep hole or you can't push the reset button we have an O-Ring kit that should solve the problem. The O-Ring kit is our part number V20128. You can order it through Camping World or a major propane company.

Thanks Diane Hickey RV Product Specialist ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I could not find said O-Ring kit at Camping World or anywhere else. Mine has begun blowing back propane for a minute or so after filling -- most alarming. Can anyone on the list tell me where to mail-order a replacement manual fill valve that will fit my 87 westy?

TIA. Philip Chidlaw
