I gotta tell you guys this...............
I sincerely believe that the giant magnet I use on Type IV Air cooled
Engines during break-in and continue to use after the break-in period
remove a considerable amount of abrasive iron, steel particles from the
oil before it abrades away bearing surfaces.
I just hangs onto the strainer plate and has no fasteners.
I always get magnetic material when I change the oil and service the
strainer. (3,000 mi)
Since I ran my van for 8 years and only ran the magnet for two years I
know for a fact that the magnet does collect material between every oil
change / strainer service.
Prior to using the magnet I got sludge from my strainer, with the
magnetic I got both sludge and iron/steel material.
At just over 20,000 miles my oil pressure had not dropped by a half PSI.
Believe it or not but I believe it and I'll have one on every car from
now on.
