I'm closing in on getting my AT rebuilt and reinstalled. Wondering what tips folks have for things to do while the whole trans/final drive is out? I will service/replace my CV joints. I will drain the gear oil from the final drive and clean what I can in there. Should I take the brake cleaner to it? I have oil seals for the drive flanges in my rebuild kit which I will install. Looking at Bentley, I don't think I am up to doing much more to the final drive. It was showing no trouble symptoms that I was aware of. Doesn't look like there are any easily replaceable drive flange bearings? I will get my torque converter rebuilt at a local shop. I will replace the important torque converter seal at the input end of the final drive. Bentley says to insert it as far as it will go. Seems like I have heard some conflicting opinions on this? Anything else I should do at this time? Thanks, Edward |
