Absolutely replace the main seal while you're in there, also the flywheel O ring 90 cents, the starter bushing 90 cents,throw outt bearing 17 bucks and pilot bearing in the crank 6 bucks. If you got the tranny out change the fluid 90 wt grease since this is an only opportunity for a complete change. Flush it with kerosine and let it drain overnight before adding the new grease. That magnetic stuff you find on the drain plug is normal. (Tranny fluid change in the van leaves 1.5 quart locked in ring/pinion area of old lube). It requires right at 1 gallon of fluid.
