It looks to me like the top rubber bushing on the front shocks supplied
with the KYBs is too thin.  The metal cup bottoms out on the top of the
shock stem shoulder without compressing the bushing enough.  Unfortunately,
I have tossed my original VW  bushings away so I can't make a direct
comparison.  I assumed the bushings supplied would be matched to the new
shocks.  The bump I am getting is probably from the front suspension
unloading and the metal cup banging on the shoulder of the shock stem.  A
thicker bushing would allow more compression of the rubber and prevent the
cup from hitting the stem shoulder.  Does this make any sense?  I may try
adding a shim under the bushing or under the cup.  The bushing just doesn't
look like it is compressed enough.  The nut appears to be ran in to end of
the threads.
