Subject: Auto transport info

Just thought I'd share a little info I got in the last day about transporting a car. This all started because my wife got into graduate school in Salt Lake City and starts summer school on Monday, but we live in Phoenix, so I'll be moving her up there this weekend and following her sometime in the next few months. Anyway, I reserved an auto trailer from U-haul to tow her vw super up there for her to use until the rest of us (me, the dogs, and the ferrets) make it up there later. Well, I went in to pay for it and pick it up when the clerks (very nice guys) started laughing behind the counter while looking at the computer screen. Turns out the one-way cost of the trailer was going to be ~$466 to SLC! This startled them so much they cracked up. Of course it wasn't cracking me up in the least. But, they soon calmed me down by informing me that since I was coming back to Phoenix after dropping off my wife, the car, and half of our possessions that I could do the in-town rental for ~$49 a day! (no mileage charges 'cause they have no way of determining the mileage on their trailers yet :) Well hell I said, sign me up! It's only going to take me a couple of days to go up and back. So, needless to say, I saved ~$300 by bringing them back their trailer. Enough $$ to buy a couple round trip tickets to seem my sweet while we are apart ;) BTW, if anyone knows of someone that needs a car hauled from SLC to Phoenix this weekend, I've got an empty trailer that can take it.
