OK that shot of Jack Daniels cleared my head. Dot three is just fine, I just don't like buying the no mane Dot3 like from Pep Boys, Chief or other discount parts houses. When I drive up in front of one of those places I could normally wring a quart or two of motor oil out of the parking lot 1 square yard of asphalt under my van. That should tell you that most of their customers aren't very concientious about their cars, hence the low, low everyday prices and the low, low everyday quality. The name brands are all good. I try to buy Valvoline, Texaco, Wagner, Delco brake fluids or other known to be quality fluids. I really can't say that the cheaper fluids do harm but I'd rather spend a few dimes or dollars more and get what I percieve as a quality product. As for Dot 4, I've never seen Dot 4, every bottle I see says it meets Dot 3-4 specifications. I have been using Valvoline Dot 4 in my 83 Westy but I had every rubber part in the brake system replaced at one time and switched then. I'll get in touch with the fellow that bought it in about 2013 and let you know if it's any good.
